Jian Pei received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Organic Chemistry from Peking University. In 1995, he joined National University of Singapore as postdoctoral fellow. In 1997, Jian became an institute fellow at Institute of Material Research and Engineering of Singapore. In 1998, he joined the group of Professor A. J. Heeger at UCSB to study organic semiconducting materials. He came back to Peking University in 2001 and now is a Professor in Chemistry. His research interests relate to organ-ic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry, organic semiconduc-tors, and optoelectronic devices.
