Martjin Kemerink obtained a Master degree in Applied Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands in 1993. In 1998 Martjin received a PhD from the same university.
Martjin was awarded a 5-year post-doctoral fellowship from the Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) to work on scanning tunneling spectroscopy and STM-induced luminescence. During this fellowship he shifted his attention from inorganic, highly crystalline semiconductors to organic, amorphous or polycrystalline semiconductors. Martjin became assistant professor in 2003 and associate professor in 2009. As of 2014 he has been appointed a full professor in Applied Physics at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM) at Linköping University in Sweden, where he leads the group Complex Materials and Devices (CoMaDe).
